Welcome to our highly anticipated Lebanon Valley Soft Pretzel Wars. Five entrants from the Valley will compete to be declared the winner of Best Soft Pretzel in The Valley.
We will travel to each entrant and try one regular soft pretzel and one other item from the menu that is made with a soft pretzel.
We continue this “War” at a Lebanon Valley landmark and local institution for pretzels. Shuey’s Pretzels along East Lehman Street in Lebanon now serves only soft pretzels on Saturdays.

They offer hand rolled soft pretzels, regular size and super large, fresh from the oven.
Our selection for judgement today was one regular sized soft pretzel and one super large soft pretzel.
This German-style pretzel is plenty salted and baked dense with a solid crisp edge. Paired with a great dipping mustard, which they have plenty of options for purchase at their counter, this makes for a delicious bite.
The size of the large pretzel dwarfs this regular pretzel. Is the large pretzel too large? For one or two people possibly. It is a bold choice to make one this large, and the fact that it is evenly baked adds an extra level of enjoyment.
Did we just have the best Soft Pretzel in the Valley?
