Mayor Zohran Mamdani doubled down on his support for a rowdy anti-Israel<\/a>\u00a0protest near a Manhattan synagogue a day after videos showed the demonstrators clashing with cops and shouting \u201cIsrael should not exist.\u201d <\/p>\n

Hizzoner made his stance clear in backing the protests who outside of the Park East Synagogue on Tuesday \u2014 and he declined to change his tune on Wednesday after videos the activists emerged shouting \u201cIsrael should not exist.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no tolerance for the hatred of Jewish New Yorkers<\/a>,\u201d he said when asked his take on the protests.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve also been clear about the fact that when we have a real estate expo that is promoting the sale of land, settlements that are a violation of international law\u2014that is something I firmly disagree with,\u201d Mamdani said.<\/p>\n

The democratic socialist then brushed off questions about if he believed his own rhetoric criticizing Israel was fueling antisemitic hate.<\/p>\n

About 100 individuals were waving Palestinian flags and banging drums before some of them forced their way past police barriers into the street. Yoav Ginsburg for NY Post<\/p>\n

Mamdani claimed the event \u2014 an expo aimed at selling land in the West Bank to Israeli settlers \u2014 was \u201cat the heart of an ongoing effort to displace Palestinians from their homes.\u201d<\/p>\n

City Hall shared a similar sentiment opposing the sale expo in a statement ahead of the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cMayor Mamdani is deeply opposed to the real estate expo this evening that includes the promotion of the sale of land in settlements in the occupied West Bank. These settlements are illegal under international law,\u201d Mamdani spokesman Sam Raskin told The Post.<\/p>\n

Tuesday night\u2019s protest marked one of the first large-scale demonstrations outside of a house of worship since city lawmakers passed a bill last month requiring the NYPD to create, plan, and enforce safety zones outside of religious institutions ahead of protests.<\/p>\n
