Iraq\u2019s Trebil border crossing with Jordan is witnessing
\ngrowing commercial activity with around 1,000 trucks passing through the
\ncrossing each day, Rutba district commissioner Imad al-Rishawi told Shafaq News
\non Thursday. <\/p>\n
The crossing receives trucks carrying a wide range of goods,
\nincluding petroleum products, construction materials, sulfur, consumer goods,
\nand items distributed through Iraq\u2019s public food ration program.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe growing traffic requires expanding storage and parking
\nareas and upgrading the crossing\u2019s infrastructure,\u201d Al-Rishawi said, noting
\nthat ongoing rehabilitation work includes developing several operational yards
\nand installing surveillance cameras and sonar systems to strengthen security
\nand organization inside the facility.<\/p>\n
According to al-Rishawi, the current level of trade activity
\nalso requires additional development and service projects within the border
\ncrossing. \u201cAuthorities are moving forward with maintenance and rehabilitation
\nwork on the remaining transport platforms and facilities,\u201d he stated, saying
\nthere are plans to prepare four platforms for operation during the next phase
\nto ease truck movement and reduce congestion.<\/p>\n
