The Shiite Coordination Framework (CF), Iraq\u2019s largest parliamentary
\nbloc, has reached an understanding with Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi
\nto form a committee tasked with consolidating weapons under state control, a
\npolitical source told Shafaq News on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The committee will be headed by al-Zaidi alongside caretaker Prime
\nMinister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and Badr Organization leader Hadi al-Amiri.
\nIts mandate includes registering all weapons in a centralized state database,
\ndefining categories of armed groups, and examining options to integrate members
\ninto civilian institutions or official security forces.<\/p>\n
On Friday, Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of Iraq\u2019s Patriotic Shiite Movement Washington has previously reiterated its opposition to the inclusion of Akram al-Kaabi, leader of the Iran-backed Harakat al-Nujaba, however,
\n(PSM), urged<\/a> the integration of all armed factions into state-controlled
\ninstitutions. He also pledged to place Saraya<\/a> al-Salam (Peace Brigades), his
\nmovement\u2019s main armed wing, under the authority of Iraq\u2019s commander-in-chief if
\nother factions move in the same direction \u201cas quickly as possible.\u201d Patriotic
\nShiite Movement<\/p>\n
\nIran-aligned armed factions within Iraq\u2019s future government structure, arguing
\nthat the boundary between state authority and such groups remains unclear.<\/p>\n
\nrejected<\/a> the disarmament calls, describing the factions\u2019 weapons as a red line
