{"id":106456,"date":"2026-05-10T10:36:06","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T10:36:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/106456\/"},"modified":"2026-05-10T10:36:06","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T10:36:06","slug":"irans-regime-reportedly-brought-in-foreign-militias-to-aid-in-security-efforts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/106456\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran&#8217;s regime reportedly brought in foreign militias to aid in security efforts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/iran-news\/article-894779\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Iranian regime<\/a> has enlisted the aid of foreign militias to man checkpoints across Tehran in order to support its security forces in order to keep civilian protests down, the Telegraph reported on Friday, citing videos circulating on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the Telegraph, which has confirmed the videos with accounts from several Tehran residents, members of the Iraqi Hashd al-Shaabi militia have been seen conducting vehicle searches and enforcing \u201c hijab regulations\u201d in cities across the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The militia is also reportedly conducting neighborhood patrols alongside the regime\u2019s security forces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now, for several nights here, there are people at our neighborhood checkpoint who don\u2019t speak Persian,\u201d the Telegraph quoted a resident from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/tehran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tehran<\/a> as saying. \u201cThey wear Hashd al-Shaabi uniforms and only communicate with gestures and a few broken words of Arabic or Persian.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The Afghan Fatemiyoun militia has also been reportedly deployed alongside the Hashd al-Shaabi in Iran\u2019s streets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore it was just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/iran-news\/article-890276\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Basij<\/a> [militia], but now the composition has changed. Several people with clear Arabic military uniforms are standing there, and they behave much more harshly,\u201d the resident was quoted as saying.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s like they have no restrictions. Even the Iranians don\u2019t say anything to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Further, the Telegraph noted other reports from Karaj, a city west of Tehran, where residents have encountered foreign personnel manning checkpoints with \u201cless restraint than their Iranian counterparts\u201d and who communicate mainly through gestures and in Arabic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Iran\u2019s government has not officially acknowledged the role of these foreign militias.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cWe see the pressure on the regime on social media,\u201d Banai said. \u201cThey have brought in militias from abroad, from Pakistan, Iraq, and Afghanistan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">He explained that the militias \u201cgo around in trucks, in civilian clothing, carrying machine guns. The soldiers speak Arabic rather than Persian, [which the locals notice and comment about on social media].\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cThey are imposing terror in the streets so that people won\u2019t go out and protest.
