DUBAI, United Arab Emirates \u2014 The shaky cease-fire in\u00a0the Iran war\u00a0<\/a>was tested again on Sunday when a drone set a small fire on a ship off the coast of Qatar, while the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait reported separate drones entering their airspaces.<\/p>\n

The UAE blamed Iran for the latest attack, the latest threat to a month-old cease-fire, which the Trump administration says remains in effect.<\/a><\/p>\n

There were no casualties reported, and no one immediately claimed responsibility.<\/p>\n

Iran and its armed allied groups possess a large fleet of drones and have used them to carry out hundreds of strikes since the war began<\/a>. The events marked the latest threats to a month-old cease-fire, which the Trump administration says remains in effect.<\/p>\n

The pause in fighting has faced difficulties, with Iran restricting traffic through the\u00a0Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway key to the global flow of oil, and the US imposing a blockade of Iranian ports.<\/a><\/p>\n

Washington has been awaiting Iran\u2019s response to a new proposal for a deal to end the war,<\/a> reopen the strait to shipping and roll back Iran\u2019s nuclear program. President Trump\u00a0has\u00a0reiterated threats\u00a0to resume full-scale bombing if Iran doesn\u2019t accept an agreement to reopen the strait and roll back its nuclear program. Iran has mostly blocked the waterway since joint strikes on Feb. 28 by the US and Israel launched the war, which has caused a global spike in fuel prices and\u00a0rattled world markets.<\/p>\n

One of the main sticking points in the negotiations is the fate of Iran\u2019s stockpile of highly enriched uranium<\/a>. The UN nuclear agency says Iran has more than 970 pounds of uranium that is enriched up to 60% purity, a short, technical step from weapons-grade levels.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Iranian state media, a spokesman for the Iranian military said that forces were on \u201cfull readiness\u201d to protect nuclear sites where the uranium is stored.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe considered it possible that they might intend to steal it through infiltration operations or heliborne operations,\u201d Brig. Gen. Akrami Nia told the IRNA news agency late Saturday. He didn\u2019t offer further details.<\/p>\n

The majority of Iran\u2019s highly enriched uranium is likely still at its Isfahan nuclear complex, International Atomic Energy Agency Director-General Rafael Mariano Grossi told\u00a0The Associated Press last month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Isfahan facility was bombarded by US-Israeli airstrikes in the 12-day war last year, and faced less intense attacks in this year\u2019s war.<\/p>\n

Drone attacks target Gulf Arab nations<\/p>\n

The UAE\u2019s Defense Ministry said Sunday it shot down two drones, blaming the attack on Iran.<\/p>\n

In Kuwait, Defense Ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saud Abdulaziz Al Otaibi said that hostile drones entered Kuwait\u2019s airspace early Sunday, and that forces responded \u201cin accordance with established procedures.\u201d The ministry didn\u2019t say where the drones originated from.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Qatar\u2019s defense ministry said that a drone targeted a commercial ship coming from Abu Dhabi into a southern port, setting a small fire that was extinguished. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre said that the attack happened 23 nautical miles northeast of Qatar\u2019s capital, Doha. It provided no details about the ship\u2019s owner or origin, and there was no claim of responsibility.<\/p>\n

There have been several attacks against ships in the Persian Gulf over the past week. On Friday, the US struck two Iranian oil tankers after it said that the vessels were trying to breach its blockade of Iran\u2019s ports.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Revolutionary Guard navy on Sunday reiterated its warning that any\u00a0attack on Iranian oil tankers\u00a0or commercial vessels would be met with a \u201cheavy assault\u201d on one of the US bases in the region and enemy ships.<\/p>\n

Pakistan is continuing to mediate during the cease-fire. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Sunday that he received a call from his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, during which the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and reviewed ongoing peace efforts.<\/p>\n
