Iraq’s
\nCommunications and Media Commission (CMC) banned TV personality Farid Majid
\nfrom all media outlets operating in the country for 30 days, the regulatory
\nbody announced Sunday, after determining that statements he made on a satellite
\nsports program constituted \u201can insult to the divine.\u201d<\/p>\n
Majid’s remarks
\nwere made during an April 12 episode of “Kora,” a sports talk program
\nbroadcast on Al-Fatarat satellite channel.<\/p>\n
Federal Supreme
\nCourt ruling No. 325, consolidated with ruling No. 331\/Federal\/2023 \u2014which mandates
\nthe prohibition of content deemed to offend the divine\u2014 provided additional
\nlegal grounding for the decision, the commission said.<\/p>\n
All visual,
\naudio, and print outlets, domestic and foreign, operating in Iraq are required
\nto enforce the ban from the date of the directive. The CMC warned that any
\noutlet hosting Majid during the 30-day period would bear full legal
\nresponsibility.<\/p>\n
