Government
\nbanks in Iraq, including Rafidain and Rasheed, are facing a severe liquidity
\nshortage, with cash becoming increasingly scarce, an economic source told
\nShafaq News on Monday.<\/p>\n
Citing
\nsecurity concerns, particularly the conflict involving the United States,
\nIsrael, and Iran, depositors have increasingly withdrawn funds from government
\nbanks, potentially threatening Iraq\u2019s financial security and economic
\nstability.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt some
\nRafidain and Rasheed branches, customers are asked to wait or return later to
\naccess their full funds, while others provide only partial amounts, postponing
\nthe remainder,\u201d the source explained, adding that these practices have affected
\nservice quality and weakened public confidence in the government banking
\nsector.<\/p>\n
The banks
\nalso continue to face administrative and legal challenges. Over the past years,
\nmodernization efforts have remained limited, with many relying heavily on
\npaper-based processes instead of electronic systems and modern banking
\ntechnology.<\/p>\n
On
\nFebruary 28, the United States and Israel carried out airstrikes on targets
\ninside Iran, including Tehran. The attacks caused significant damage and
\ncivilian casualties and killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei along with
\nseveral senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders. Iran
\nresponded with retaliatory actions affecting multiple countries in the region,
\nincluding Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab
