\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPresident Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s latest response to the U.S. proposal to end the war, calling it “totally unacceptable.” Iranian state television reported that Tehran is seeking to end the war on all fronts, including the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militant group in Lebanon. Iran is reportedly also demanding war reparations from the U.S., full Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, and the release of seized assets. Trump’s proposal includes reopening the strait and rolling back Iran’s nuclear program. Earlier Sunday, Trump wrote on social media: “Iran has been playing games with the United States, and the rest of the world, for 47 years. They will be laughing no longer!” Shortly after Trump rejected Iran’s counteroffer, oil prices surged more than 4%, reaching approximately $105 per barrel. “The end point is going to be free flow of traffic through the international waters that are the Straits of Hormuz and an end to the Iranian nuclear program. That’s where we’re going to end. The pathway from here to there, we’re going to find out,” Energy Secretary Chris Wright said. Wright was also asked Sunday if he would support suspending the federal gas tax as prices continue to climb.
