The incident sparked a small fire but resulted in no injuries aboard the 16-year-old ship, the source states.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the first attack on a merchant vessel with American ties since the start of peace negotiations between the United States and Iran. The ship provides logistics support for United Nations peacekeeping missions, the World Food Programme, and the U.S. General Services Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Safesea, headquartered in Piscataway, New Jersey, offers vessel management and other maritime logistics services. Global shipping rate futures have shown some stabilization over the past week, suggesting carriers are managing the ongoing conflict in the Strait of Hormuz to moderate price surges, though an estimated 1,500 vessels remain trapped in the gulf.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Central Command reported disabling two Iranian tankers over the weekend, while three naval vessels came under attack by Iran.
