Using a dramatic comparison, Trump remarked that the agreement was on ‘massive life support,’ likening it to a patient with only a minimal chance of survival.<\/p>\n

The ceasefire first came into effect on April 8 after weeks of escalating military tensions between Washington and Tehran. The truce followed Trump\u2019s warning that Iran\u2019s \u201cwhole civilization\u201d could be destroyed if an agreement was not reached. Although the arrangement was initially meant to last two weeks, Trump later decided to extend it on April 21.<\/p>\n

Since its implementation, the ceasefire has struggled to remain stable, with both countries accusing each other of violating agreed terms.<\/p>\n

One of the major conditions attached to the truce was the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz<\/a>, a critical global oil shipping route that had seen major disruptions since the conflict began. Trump had earlier said that Iran was expected to immediately restore smooth movement through the strategic waterway as part of the understanding.<\/p>\n

However, after shipping activity reportedly failed to return to normal levels, the US administration ordered a naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman to restrict vessels moving in and out of Iranian ports.<\/p>\n
