The Israeli Foreign Ministry lashed out at the New York Times on Monday after one of its columnists, Nicholas Kristof, documented allegations of rape and sexual abuse by Israelis against Palestinians.<\/p>\n
Shortly after the New York Times published Kristof\u2019s article<\/a>, \u201cThe Silence That Meets the Rape of Palestinians\u201d \u2013 which chronicled the \u201cbrutal sexual abuse\u201d experienced by Palestinians \u201cat the hands of Israel\u2019s prison guards<\/a>, soldiers, settlers and interrogators\u201d \u2013 Israel\u2019s Foreign Ministry issued a statement<\/a> condemning the newspaper.<\/p>\n \u201cToday, the @nytimes chose to publish one of the worst blood libels ever to appear in the modern press,\u201d they wrote. \u201cIn an unfathomable inversion of reality, and through an endless stream of baseless lies, propagandist Nicholas Kristof turns the victim into the accused.\u201d<\/p>\n The Foreign Ministry continued, \u201cIsrael \u2013 whose citizens were the victims of the most horrific sexual crimes committed by Hamas on October 7, and whose hostages were later subjected to further sexual abuse \u2013 is portrayed as the guilty party. This publication is no coincidence. It is part of a false and well-orchestrated anti-Israel campaign aimed at placing Israel on the UN Secretary-General\u2019s blacklist.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIsrael will fight these lies with the truth \u2013 and the truth will prevail,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n In a social media post, Kristof responded<\/a>, \u201cCritical take from Israel\u2019s Foreign Ministry on my column about sexual assaults of Palestinian men, women and children.
