Saudi fighter jets bombed targets linked to Iran-backed
\nShi’ite factions in Iraq during theIran war with Israel and the US,
\nReuters reported on Wednesday, citing multiple sources familiar with the matter.\n<\/p>\n
The strikes were carried out near the Saudi northern border
\nwith Iraq, two sources noted, adding that some strikes took place \u200baround the
\ntime of the April 7 ceasefire. \u201cThey targeted sites from which drone and
\nmissile attacks were launched at Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.\u201d <\/p>\n
\u201cHundreds of the drones that targeted the Gulf emanated from
\nIraq,\u201d all the sources said.<\/p>\n
Iraqi sources told Reuters that rocket attacks were launched
\non at least two occasions from Kuwaiti territory on Iraq. One set of strikes
\nhit a faction’s positions in southern Iraq in \u200bApril, killing several fighters
\nand destroying a facility used by Kataib Hezbollah for communications and drone
\noperations.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Reuters reported that Saudi Arabia launched strikes
\ndirectly on Iran during the war in retaliation for attacks on the kingdom,
\nthe first time Riyadh \u200bis known to have hit Iranian soil. The UAE also carried
\nout similar strikes on Iran, according to three sources familiar with the
\nmatter.<\/p>\n
On March 25, six Arab countries<\/a> called on Iraq\u2019s government
\nto take action to stop attacks launched by armed factions from Iraqi territory
\nagainst neighboring states, warning that failure to do so could lead to further
\nescalation. Later on April 2, the Iraqi Resistance Coordination
\nCommittee, a coalition of Iran-aligned armed factions, called<\/a> on the government
\nto sanction Jordan by closing border crossings and halting oil supplies,
