Satirical video game pops up at DC War Memorial – NBC4 Washington

Video games inside the D.C. War Memorial? Yep — and the game is taking aim at the Trump administration’s war with Iran.

It’s the latest installation by an anonymous group called Secret Handshake, the same group behind a “golden toilet” installation and the statue of President Trump and Jeffrey Epstein on the National Mall.

The video game is called “Epic Furious: Strait to Hell,” with the spelling of “strait” corresponding to the Strait of Hormuz. The game pokes fun at the administration’s war with Iran, which was dubbed Operation Epic Fury.

Donna and Don Powell were at the memorial Wednesday morning to try it out.

“I think this is great. We’ve been to a bunch of the other statues that the Secret Handshake has put up,” Donna Powell said. “And I think, by far, this one’s the most creative, and the most fun and the most interactive, so I hope it stays up longer than what they usually do.”

“I think you have to share it through humor,” Don Powell said, “because you know they’re censoring Jimmy Fallon and everyone else. They have to get their message out through humor because they are trying to censor the people’s voice, the newspapers, and this is just another method to share it more widely.”

People who play the game as the president can choose to order a Diet Coke or invade Iran. Players can move the president all around the Oval Office and the White House, where the player will encounter caricatures of people such as Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, FBI Director Kash Patel and even first lady Melania Trump.

The game consoles are fully operational and free — no quarters needed. They are expected to be at the D.C. War Memorial off Independence Avenue for the next few days.

But not everyone thinks this is funny. Two women who didn’t want to appear on camera expressed concerns about an installation like this being inside a memorial that honors those who died in war.

Video games inside the D.C.
