The Finance Ministry would become the leading sovereign
\nministry in Iraq and a central institution for managing and developing the
\nnational economy, Faleh Sari, the National Wisdom (Al-Hikma) Movement nominee
\nfor Iraq\u2019s finance minister position, vowed on Thursday. <\/p>\n
In a recorded statement published on social media ahead of
\nthe anticipated parliamentary vote on Prime Minister-designate Ali Al-Zaidi\u2019s
\ncabinet, Sari said the rights of public employees, contract workers, and
\nfarmers were \u201cguaranteed,\u201d adding that the ministry would work to secure their
\nfinancial entitlements.<\/p>\n
He stressed that the Finance Ministry should not function
\nmerely as \u201can office for salary distribution,\u201d but as a sovereign economic
\ninstitution contributing to Iraq\u2019s economic growth. The nominee also rejected
\nseparating ministries from the Finance Ministry, saying all institutions should
\nremain linked to it within a unified administrative system.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ministry would rely on digital transformation and
\nautomation during the next phase to become a ministry serving all Iraqis.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sari noted that he plans to establish a dedicated team to
\nreceive requests and address public complaints, while opening communication
\nchannels with citizens through members of parliament. He also called on Iraq\u2019s
\nparliament and its finance committee to support legislative reforms and
\namendments aimed at addressing the country\u2019s current financial challenges.<\/p>\n
