{"id":113843,"date":"2026-05-14T16:13:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T16:13:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/113843\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T16:13:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T16:13:09","slug":"iraqs-parliament-grants-confidence-to-al-zaidi-cabinet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/113843\/","title":{"rendered":"Iraq\u2019s Parliament grants confidence to Al-Zaidi cabinet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n                            2026-05-14T15:42:42+00:00<\/p>\n<p>                                    font<\/p>\n<p>                                            Enable Reading Mode<\/p>\n<p>\n                                        A-<br \/>\n                                        A<br \/>\n                                        A+\n                                    <\/p>\n<p>Shafaq News- Baghdad<\/p>\n<p>Iraq\u2019s Parliament on Thursday approved the government<br \/>\nof Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi and endorsed its ministerial program<br \/>\nduring a special session in Baghdad.<\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers moved forward with voting on cabinet<br \/>\nnominees after ratifying the government agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the session, Parliament Speaker Haibet<br \/>\nAl-Halbousi <a href=\"https:\/\/shafaq.com\/en\/Iraq\/Parliament-session-begins-for-confidence-vote-on-al-Zaidi-government\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">announced<\/a> the attendance of 266 lawmakers out of 329 seats, while<br \/>\npolitical blocs signaled broad backing for Al-Zaidi\u2019s cabinet.<\/p>\n<p>Parliament had already <a href=\"https:\/\/shafaq.com\/en\/Iraq\/Iraqi-Parliament-confirms-cabinet-nominees-by-overwhelming-majority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">confirmed<\/a> several ministerial<br \/>\nappointments, including Basim Muhammad Khudhair for oil, Muhammad Nouri Ahmad<br \/>\nfor industry, Ali Saad Wahib for electricity, Abd Al-Hussein Aziz for health,<br \/>\nSarwa Abd Al-Wahid for environment, Abd al-Rahim Jasim for agriculture,<br \/>\nMuthanna Ali Mahdi for water resources, Mustafa Nizar Jumaa for trade, Khalid<br \/>\nShwani for justice, Abd Al-Karim Abtan for education, Wahab Salman Muhammad for<br \/>\ntransport, Falih Al-Sari for finance, Fuad Hussein for foreign affairs, and<br \/>\nMustafa Jabbar Sanad for communications.<\/p>\n<p>A parliamentary source told Shafaq News that postponed<br \/>\nministries, along with the positions of vice presidents and deputy prime<br \/>\nministers, would be settled after the Eid al-Adha* holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Following the vote, Al-Zaidi and the approved<br \/>\nministers took the constitutional oath before Parliament adjourned the session<br \/>\nuntil further notice.<\/p>\n<p>*Eid al-Adha, known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is an Islamic holiday<br \/>\ncommemorating Prophet Ibrahim\u2019s (Abraham\u2019s) willingness to sacrifice his son in<br \/>\nobedience to God. Celebrated on the 10th day of the Islamic month of<br \/>\nDhul-Hijjah, it coincides with the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca.
