{"id":114375,"date":"2026-05-14T22:53:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T22:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/114375\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T22:53:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T22:53:08","slug":"kurdish-national-council-selects-candidates-for-syrian-parliament-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/114375\/","title":{"rendered":"Kurdish National Council selects candidates for Syrian parliament elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n                            2026-05-14T18:26:57+00:00<\/p>\n<p>                                    font<\/p>\n<p>                                            Enable Reading Mode<\/p>\n<p>\n                                        A-<br \/>\n                                        A<br \/>\n                                        A+\n                                    <\/p>\n<p>Shafaq News- Damascus <\/p>\n<p>The Kurdish National Council (KNC) on Thursday selected its<br \/>\ncandidates for Syria\u2019s People\u2019s Assembly elections in three areas of Hasakah<br \/>\nprovince ahead of the upcoming vote, a senior source from the KNC general secretariat<br \/>\ntold Shafaq News. <\/p>\n<p>A meeting held in Qamishli and attended by 68 members<br \/>\nresulted in the selection of the council\u2019s representatives for the<br \/>\nparliamentary elections in the province.<\/p>\n<p>According to the source, Fisla Youssef, a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shafaq.com\/en\/Middle-East\/Exclusive-KNC-to-meet-Syria-s-Al-Sharaa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">KNC<\/a><br \/>\ngeneral secretariat, was selected to represent Hasakah district, while Ridwan<br \/>\nSido was chosen for Qamishli and Farhan Marai for the Derik area. \u201cThe KNC will participate in the parliamentary elections by<br \/>\nnominating candidates for the seats allocated to Kurds in Hasakah province.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another source familiar with the matter informed Shafaq News<br \/>\nthat the KNC is expected to hold talks with the Democratic Union Party (PYD) to<br \/>\ncoordinate the nomination process between the two sides.<\/p>\n<p>Kurdish groups are expected to receive four seats in the<br \/>\nelections out of a total of nine allocated to Hasakah province, with two seats<br \/>\nexpected to go to the KNC and two to the PYD.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Mohammad Wali, a member of the Higher Committee for<br \/>\nSyria\u2019s People\u2019s Assembly elections, told Shafaq News that Hasakah province has<br \/>\nnine allocated seats after a representative from Ras Al-Ain had already been<br \/>\nelected.
