US intelligence reportedly says China is using the Iran conflict to strengthen its military, economic and diplomatic position against Washington.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0The Washington Post, U.S. military intelligence believes Beijing is\u00a0using the Middle East conflict to\u00a0strengthen its position against Washington across the military, economic and diplomatic arenas.<\/p>\n
Citing sources familiar with a\u00a0classified intelligence report, the newspaper reported that the Pentagon is\u00a0seriously concerned about the geopolitical costs the United States may face in\u00a0its confrontation with Tehran.<\/p>\n
The report states that after the U.S. and Israel launched a\u00a0military operation against Iran, China supplied weapons to\u00a0Washington\u2019s\u00a0allies in\u00a0the Persian Gulf. It\u00a0also says Beijing provided assistance to\u00a0countries struggling with energy shortages after the Strait of\u00a0Hormuz was closed.<\/p>\n
The Washington Post also reported that the war with Iran has drained significant U.S. weapons stockpiles\u00a0\u2014 resources that could prove critical in\u00a0a\u00a0potential confrontation with China over Taiwan.
