{"id":114422,"date":"2026-05-14T23:26:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T23:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/114422\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T23:26:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T23:26:08","slug":"third-round-of-israel-lebanon-peace-talks-productive-positive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/114422\/","title":{"rendered":"Third round of Israel-Lebanon peace talks &#8216;productive, positive&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first day of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-896111\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">third round of negotiations<\/a> between Israel and Lebanon has concluded after eight hours of talks hosted at the US State Department in Washington on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Delegations from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-896266\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">both countries<\/a> will meet again on Friday for further discussion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The talks were \u201cproductive and positive,\u201d according to a State Department official. \u201cWe look forward to continuing this tomorrow and hope to have more to share then,&#8221; the official added.<\/p>\n<p>Before Thursday\u2019s negotiations, an Israeli official told The Jerusalem Post that the talks aim \u201cto discuss a framework for an agreement in greater depth.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This round of negotiations was the first that was attended by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-896086\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">military<\/a> representatives and came shortly before the expiration of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/article-894031\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">three-week extension<\/a> to the ongoing ceasefire deal announced by US President Donald Trump on April 23.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The US mediation of the talks was led by US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, Secretary of State Marco Rubio\u2019s adviser Michael Needham, and US Ambassador to Lebanon Michael Issa.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Israel\u2019s delegation was led by the Israeli ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter, who was accompanied by the IDF Head of Strategy Brig.-Gen.
