Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India was prepared to provide all possible assistance for the early restoration of peace and stability in West Asia, while strongly condemning attacks on the UAE and praising the Gulf nation\u2019s leadership for responding with restraint.<\/p>\n
During talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, Modi reaffirmed India\u2019s solidarity with the UAE and said New Delhi would continue to stand by the country in difficult times.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the wider global impact of the conflict in West Asia, the prime minister reiterated that India supports dialogue and diplomacy as the preferred path for resolving disputes.<\/p>\n
\u201dIndia is ready to extend all possible support for the restoration of peace and stability at the earliest,\u201d the Prime Minister said.<\/p>\n
He also underlined India\u2019s position on ensuring uninterrupted and secure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, calling the waterway crucial for regional stability as well as global energy and food security.<\/p>\n
Modi said maintaining the Strait of Hormuz as free, open and secure remained a top priority and stressed the importance of adhering to international law.<\/p>\n
Iran blocked the strategic shipping route linking the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman after the US and Israel launched military strikes on February 28.<\/p>\n
The UAE, which hosts a US military base, has been at the receiving end of Iranian strikes during the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran.<\/p>\n
Modi and Mohamed bin Zayed held a series of detailed discussions, during which the Prime Minister reaffirmed India\u2019s strong condemnation of the attacks on the UAE, as well as its solidarity with the leadership and the people of the Gulf country.<\/p>\n

\u201dWe strongly condemn the attack that took place in the UAE. The way the UAE was targeted is unacceptable in any form,\u201d Modi said, without naming any country.<\/p>\n
Last week, three Indian nationals were injured after a fire broke out on the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone (FOIZ) in the UAE following a drone strike. The UAE\u2019s Ministry of Defence blamed Iran for the attack.<\/p>\n
\u201dIn these difficult circumstances, the restraint, courage and wisdom demonstrated by you are highly commendable,\u201d Modi told the UAE president.<\/p>\n
Modi praised the UAE leadership for handling the situation with \u201crestraint, courage and wisdom\u201d and thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for supporting the Indian community during the crisis.<\/p>\n
The conflict in West Asia has raised concerns in India over possible disruptions to crude oil and gas supplies, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for India\u2019s energy imports.<\/p>\n
Global energy markets have also been rattled by Tehran\u2019s blockade of the strait, which normally handles around one-fifth of the world\u2019s petroleum shipments.<\/p>\n
