T\u00fcrkiye<\/a>\u2019s permanent representative to the United Nations has said Syria<\/a> is gradually moving toward sustainable stability<\/a> despite regional tensions, while criticizing Israel\u2019s military actions in the country.<\/p>\n Speaking at the U.N. Security Council, Ambassador Ahmet Y\u0131ld\u0131z said Syria had remained among the countries least affected by the current regional turmoil.<\/p>\n \u201cThis demonstrates that since December 2024, Syria has been moving slowly but surely toward sustainable stability,\u201d Y\u0131ld\u0131z said.<\/p>\n He criticized Israel\u2019s military activities in Syria, describing them as destabilizing, and praised Syrian authorities for adhering to the 1974 disengagement agreement.<\/p>\n \u201cWe reiterate our call on Israel to fully comply with this agreement without delay, refrain from further escalatory actions and reverse its encroachment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Y\u0131ld\u0131z said preserving stability in southern Syria was essential not only for Syria\u2019s own security but also for broader regional stability.<\/p>\n On Syria\u2019s internal developments, the Turkish envoy welcomed recent judicial steps aimed at holding officials from the former regime accountable for alleged human rights abuses.<\/p>\n He also described the planned convening of Syria\u2019s People\u2019s Assembly as an important milestone in the country\u2019s political transition and reconstruction process.<\/p>\n At the same time, Y\u0131ld\u0131z stressed the importance of completing the integration process in northeastern Syria and preserving a unified state structure.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is no room for dual structures within the military, judiciary or administration of a united Syria,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Y\u0131ld\u0131z said early signs of economic recovery were emerging, although major challenges remained, particularly in rebuilding critical infrastructure.<\/p>\n Recent disruptions to regional trade routes linked to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz had also highlighted Syria\u2019s strategic importance as a transit hub, he said.<\/p>\n \u201cA stable and unified Syria can serve as a vital nexus connecting the Middle East, T\u00fcrkiye and Europe through trade, transportation, energy and infrastructure networks,\u201d Y\u0131ld\u0131z said.<\/p>\n He pointed to a recent agreement signed by T\u00fcrkiye, Syria and Jordan to strengthen road and railway connectivity as part of wider regional integration efforts.<\/p>\n Y\u0131ld\u0131z also warned that landmines, unexploded ordnance and chemical weapons remnants continued to pose serious risks despite the decline in large-scale violence.<\/p>\n He said the threat posed by ISIL remained significant and that the group could try to exploit regional instability to regroup.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Syrian government continues to strengthen its counterterrorism capacity and deserves sustained international support in this regard also,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Y\u0131ld\u0131z reaffirmed T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s commitment to humanitarian assistance for Syria, saying Ankara would continue to support U.N. humanitarian operations in coordination with Syrian authorities and international partners.<\/p>\n \u201cT\u00fcrkiye will continue to stand by the Syrian people and support the Syrian government in overcoming the challenges they face,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s permanent representative to the United Nations has said Syria is gradually moving toward sustainable stability despite regional…\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":116363,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[30],"tags":[6898,95,11875],"class_list":["post-116362","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-syria","tag-stability","tag-syria","tag-trkiye"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@iran\/116583389191280750","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/116362","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=116362"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/116362\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/116363"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=116362"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=116362"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=116362"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
