{"id":117589,"date":"2026-05-17T08:54:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-17T08:54:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/117589\/"},"modified":"2026-05-17T08:54:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-17T08:54:11","slug":"benjamin-netanyahu-sold-israels-security-for-personal-deals-with-donald-trump-avigdor-liberman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/117589\/","title":{"rendered":"Benjamin Netanyahu sold Israel&#8217;s security for personal deals with Donald Trump, Avigdor Liberman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yisrael Beiteinu chairman and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/politics-and-diplomacy\/article-896261\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MK Avigdor Liberman<\/a> accused <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/politics-and-diplomacy\/article-896302\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> of endangering Israel\u2019s national security in exchange for what he described as a personal political arrangement with US President Donald Trump, during an interview with 103FM on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Liberman claimed Netanyahu\u2019s conduct was driven primarily by efforts to cancel his ongoing criminal trial and remove the international arrest warrant issued against him.<\/p>\n<p>The former defense minister alleged that the arrangement amounted to \u201cturning Israel into a banana republic in exchange for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/benjamin-netanyahu\/article-895917\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">canceling the trial<\/a> and the arrest warrant.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow did we reach a situation where we became a banana republic?\u201d Liberman said. \u201cOne day we [can suddenly] receive a message from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/american-politics\/article-896391\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">President Trump<\/a> announcing a ceasefire. There is a real arrangement between Netanyahu and Trump. (credit: JONATHAN ERNST\/REUTERS)<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cAnyone building on a coalition with Shas and United Torah Judaism is giving up in advance on universal conscription, core curriculum studies, public transportation on Shabbat, and also giving up on Yisrael Beiteinu,\u201d he said. \u201cThere is no such thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An alternative model for haredim in the public sector<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Referring to Jewish philosopher Maimonides, known as the Rambam, Liberman said he supports a model in which Torah study is combined with employment and civic responsibility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cHe stated clearly that someone who studies Torah and does not work desecrates God\u2019s name,\u201d Liberman said. \u201cApproval of such a system leads to idleness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Liberman said any coalition he joins would oppose exemptions from military or national service for draft-age citizens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cNo one will receive an exemption, not even a quarter of a yeshiva student, and not only Jews,\u201d he said. \u201cEveryone will report to the induction center, and the IDF will decide who is needed for military service, while the rest will perform national service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">He also reiterated that Yisrael Beiteinu would not sit in a coalition alongside Shas or United Torah Judaism.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cI want to formulate clear understandings and shared guiding principles,\u201d Liberman said. \u201cThere is no scenario in which we sit with Shas and United Torah Judaism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Liberman keeps options open ahead of elections<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The Yisrael Beiteinu chairman declined to say whether his party would join forces with the new political movement led by former IDF chief Gadi Eisenkot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cYou are turning this into shallow journalism as if everything is personal, but that is not the essence,\u201d Liberman said. \u201cThe essence is which flags you march under, what your worldview is, and what you are determined to achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">He added that voters should focus on which leaders will uphold campaign promises after elections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cWith us, a word is a word,\u201d Liberman said. \u201cWhat we commit to before the elections, we will commit to afterward as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Liberman concluded by outlining his political priorities ahead of a future election campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cI have two goals, in this order: first, to bring down the government and replace it;
