Yury Knutov says Iran could hit US bases in the Middle East and Israeli defense sites, warning nuclear facilities pose the gravest escalation risk.<\/p>\n
Military expert Yury Knutov believes that if\u00a0hostilities resume, Iran has the means to\u00a0destroy US\u00a0military bases in\u00a0the Middle East. He\u00a0noted that Tehran has already demonstrated its capabilities by\u00a0putting 15 US\u00a0facilities in\u00a0the Persian Gulf area out of\u00a0action.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0Knutov, Iran has modern weapons suitable for such operations, including the Khorramshahr-4 ballistic missile. He\u00a0said this missile had been used against a\u00a0base in\u00a0the Indian Ocean and showed both effectiveness and the ability to\u00a0overcome air defense systems.<\/p>\n
The expert added that the pause in\u00a0fighting may have allowed Iran to\u00a0restore missile production at\u00a0underground facilities. As\u00a0a\u00a0result, Tehran could inflict serious damage on\u00a0US\u00a0infrastructure in\u00a0the region.<\/p>\n
Knutov also said the United States has traditionally not viewed the Middle East as\u00a0an\u00a0area where its facilities could face major threats. In\u00a0his assessment, many American bases are poorly protected from an\u00a0engineering standpoint and were not designed to\u00a0withstand strikes by\u00a0powerful weapons.<\/p>\n
Among Iran\u2019s\u00a0possible targets, Knutov named not only US\u00a0military bases but also Israeli defense industry facilities, which he\u00a0described as\u00a0critical to\u00a0the country\u2019s\u00a0military system. He\u00a0believes such enterprises could be\u00a0disabled for an\u00a0extended period.<\/p>\n
At\u00a0the same time, the expert called strikes on\u00a0nuclear infrastructure the most dangerous scenario.
