Several oil tankers attempting to pass through the Strait without Iran’s authorization were hit by missiles or drones and sank. This led other vessels to refrain from taking risks and halt their operations. As a result, oil and LNG exports were stopped, leading to a rise in energy prices in global markets.

Iran is well aware of the strategic importance of controlling the Strait of Hormuz and the pressure it exerts on its enemies. Rising energy prices have had devastating consequences for the US and its allies, while Arab countries in the region remain highly vulnerable.

Until now, Iran had not used this leverage, with only Yemen in the Bab al-Mandab Strait taking similar steps to support Palestine and impose costs on the Israeli regime—an effort that proved successful.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-50169" class="wp-image-50169 size-full" src="data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=" http:="" alt="Iranian Naval Drill in Strait of Hormuz on Feb 17, 2026. Social media/ WANA News Agency

The attacks by the US and the Israeli regime, supported by regional countries, led Iran to employ the leverage of the Strait of Hormuz. By the end of the war, this leverage should transform into a stable equation in the region—an exchange or security equation in return for economic benefit between Iran, regional countries, and third-party actors not aligned with the US, such as China.

Iran, by providing security services for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, could host economic cooperation, including investment in infrastructure development, particularly in the energy sector, technological collaborations, and mutual trade with regional countries and China.

The broad framework of this equation should be determined and agreed upon in the peace negotiations at the end of the war between Iran, regional countries, and other stakeholders, with its details operationalized once the war concludes.

A critical point to note is that this equation and its execution mechanisms must be independent of the West-dominated economic and financial system. The guarantee of protecting the rights of the Iranian people lies in Iran’s military power to close the Strait of Hormuz once again.

Live Coverage of the Iran–U.S.–Israel Conflict / March 10

 WANA – Our team is closely monitoring the latest developments regarding the U.S. and Israel’s war against Iran. This report is being updated… Vigil Held for 168 Minab Child in Front of the New York Public Library Baghaei to EU Commission President: “Enough Hypocrisy!” WANA (Mar 10) – Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for […]

[28
102,34,37,6892,101,1690,36
post-12426","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-strait-of-hormuz","tag-hormuz","tag-iran","tag-israel","tag-ramadan-war","tag-strait-of-hormuz","tag-the-united-states","tag-war
["GET
