A Qatari delegation is engaged in talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran to help end the war that began on February 28 when the US and Israel launched military strikes against Iran. Iran\u2019s semi\u2011official Tasnim news agency reported, citing Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, that the Qatari team is negotiating alongside ongoing Pakistani mediation. \u201cThe mediator between the US and Iran remains the Pakistani side,\u201d Tasnim noted.<\/p>\n
Pakistan\u2019s mediation intensifies<\/p>\n
Early Friday, Pakistan\u2019s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, arrived in Tehran for his second mediation trip. He was received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, with Pakistan\u2019s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also present. Munir will discuss Iran\u2011US talks, regional peace and stability, and other critical issues. Naqvi has been in Tehran for two days as part of indirect negotiations. Pakistan secured a ceasefire on April 8 and hosted the highest\u2011level direct talks between the US and Iran since 1979 on April 11\u201112.<\/p>\n

While Qatar has joined the diplomatic effort, Pakistan remains the lead mediator.
