BAGHDAD \u2014 Iraq\u2019s Interior Ministry warned Tuesday that people using dangerous fireworks, firecrackers and metal-ball projectiles during Eid al-Adha would face legal accountability, as security forces began deploying across the country with instructions to prevent their sale and use.<\/p>\n
Ministry spokesperson Col. Mohammed Ali al-Hassoun told the Iraqi News Agency that emergency patrols, mobile units and intelligence teams had been deployed \u201cwith strict measures\u201d and that violators would be held accountable \u201cin order to preserve public safety.\u201d He called on citizens to cooperate with security forces and prevent their children from using such items.<\/p>\n
Iraqi authorities launch similar campaigns before major holidays each year.
