Today, the country\u2019s high-tech sector represents one of the main engines of economic growth and exports, while a growing share of its innovation ecosystem is focused on climate and energy solutions. Israel is home to hundreds of active startups dedicated specifically to climate-related technologies, attracting billions of dollars in global investment over recent years.<\/p>\n<p>This technological leadership is especially visible in the way Israel manages its limited land and water resources. Solar energy has become the dominant renewable energy source in the country, driving the development of creative deployment models that maximize efficiency in densely populated areas.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most notable examples is Israel\u2019s leadership in agrivoltaics \u2014 the dual use of land for both agriculture and solar power generation. Solar panels installed above crops and greenhouses help generate electricity while simultaneously reducing water evaporation and protecting plants from excessive heat. To further address land limitations, Israel has also developed floating solar installations on water reservoirs, creating additional clean energy capacity without competing for agricultural land.<\/p>\n<p>The country\u2019s innovation extends beyond energy production into the broader water-energy nexus. Israel currently recycles approximately 90% of its domestic wastewater for agricultural use, making it a global leader in water reuse and efficiency. This integration between water management, agriculture, and energy infrastructure has become a central pillar of the country\u2019s sustainability strategy.<\/p>\n<p>As solar energy penetration continues to rise, the focus of innovation is increasingly shifting toward energy storage, electrification, and grid resilience. Israel\u2019s transition is being supported by major infrastructure investments, including the country\u2019s inaugural $2 billion Green Bond, which is financing transportation electrification and sustainable urban infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli companies are also developing technologies designed to address some of the energy sector\u2019s most urgent global challenges. SolarEdge has become a global leader in smart energy management systems, while StoreDot is advancing ultra-fast-charging battery technology for electric vehicles. Brenmiller Energy is pioneering thermal energy storage systems that use crushed rocks to store heat for industrial applications, helping reduce dependence on fossil fuels in heavy industry.<\/p>\n<p>For Mexico, many of these innovations are particularly relevant. Rising electricity demand driven by industrial growth and nearshoring is increasing pressure on generation capacity, transmission infrastructure, and water resources. Israeli technologies in solar optimization, water reuse, energy storage, and grid efficiency could help support more sustainable industrial expansion while strengthening long-term energy resilience.<\/p>\n<p>Many of these innovations will be highlighted during Energy Tech Week 2026, taking place from June 1\u20134, 2026, in Israel. The event is expected to bring together more than 1,000 participants, including startups, investors, energy companies, policymakers, and industry experts, to discuss some of the world\u2019s most important energy challenges and opportunities. The program will include startup competitions, professional tours, and discussions focused on topics such as grid capacity, physical AI, nuclear and fusion technologies, and cyber resilience for critical infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>For those unable to attend in person, opportunities to connect with the Israeli energy innovation ecosystem will also be available virtually.
