(WSMV) &#8211; The City of Lebanon is one step closer to getting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2026\/05\/12\/lebanon-mayor-announces-committee-select-wastewater-treatment-site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2026\/05\/12\/lebanon-mayor-announces-committee-select-wastewater-treatment-site\/\">a new wastewater facility<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Council members spent over an hour Wednesday establishing the framework they will use to rank the 15 different location options for the upcoming plant. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">They said they\u2019d look at how each site would impact the community, environment and existing infrastructure. They\u2019re also reviewing the property\u2019s size, how it impacts nearby sewer growth areas and how much it would cost the city to buy. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2026\/05\/12\/lebanon-mayor-announces-committee-select-wastewater-treatment-site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2026\/05\/12\/lebanon-mayor-announces-committee-select-wastewater-treatment-site\/\">Lebanon mayor announces committee to select wastewater treatment site<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">People in both the city and Wilson County expressed frustration with the plant selection process. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"link | text-reset d-block h-100 w-100\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/page\/our-apps\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_self\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"WSMV\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/1780000390_992_WCZWEBRKNJC6BHZCWR4ZBCEHIA.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"245\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cFrom what I heard, you\u2019re a long way from being ready to actually go through the metrics, because you have to have all the criteria understood and each of the sites understood by everybody here before you can even think about ranking it,\u201d one commenter said during the meeting. \u201cIt\u2019s a big task with this many sites.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Another resident worried that leaders would get so focused about the logistics that they\u2019d forget the community impact. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cSo while you\u2019re setting your criteria today, and I\u2019m sitting here listening to that, there\u2019s a lot about topography, maps, acreage,\u201d another resident said. \u201cBut I didn\u2019t hear a lot, really, about the human factor.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Wednesday\u2019s meeting wasn\u2019t about actually choosing a spot, but instead, about what council members will need to consider in order to choose a spot. They also working on determining how long they\u2019ll need to take to actually make that decision. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It comes after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2026\/05\/12\/lebanon-mayor-announces-committee-select-wastewater-treatment-site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wsmv.com\/2026\/05\/12\/lebanon-mayor-announces-committee-select-wastewater-treatment-site\/\">Mayor Rick Bell announced earlier this month<\/a> that he is creating a committee to help select the location for the next wastewater treatment facility. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The next meeting where council members will talk about this wastewater plant will be Tuesday, June 2 at 4 p.m. <\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WSMV.
