Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) \u2013 In an attempt aiming to strengthen Iraq\u2019s national grid and improve power supply, Baghdad has restarted its electricity interconnection lines with Iraqi Kurdistan.<\/p>\n
The decision was made after all of the technical and administrative requirements for restoring service to the lines were met.<\/p>\n
The Diyala Electricity Company announced on Saturday the reactivation of two 132-kilovolt power lines linking the Kurdistan region of Iraq, following the fulfillment of all necessary processes, the state-run news agency (INA) reported.<\/p>\n
This move comes at a time when Iraq\u2019s electricity sector is under growing strain due to high demand during the summer months, leading officials to seek immediate measures to boost supply and improve electricity availability for consumers.<\/p>\n
Officials confirmed that reactivating the two lines is part of the Ministry of Electricity\u2019s efforts to use all available energy sources, improve national grid efficiency, and increase dependability across Iraqi provinces.<\/p>\n
The reactivation of two power lines brought about 120 megawatts of additional capacity to Iraq\u2019s electrical system, improving grid stability and offering greater operational flexibility.<\/p>\n
The increased power has directly improved Diyala\u2019s electrical supply, resulting in improved service levels and lessening the impact of earlier power outages in some areas of Iraq. <\/p>\n
