\n\tWASHINGTON \u2013 31 May 2026: US President Donald Trump has requested changes to a draft nuclear agreement negotiated by his envoys and Iranian officials, Axios reported on Sunday, citing sources familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n
\n\tA US administration official said Trump is seeking more specific provisions on Iran’s nuclear program, including how and when the US gets the material, before approving the proposed deal.<\/p>\n
\n\tTrump made the request during a Situation Room meeting at the White House on Friday, triggering a new round of discussions between the two sides that could last several days.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe current draft includes an Iranian commitment not to pursue a nuclear weapon and provides for a 60-day period to negotiate detailed nuclear restrictions and US sanctions relief.<\/p>\n
\n\tMoreover, Trump also wants to amend some of the wording around the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, according to one of the sources.<\/p>\n
\n\tA White House official told CBS News earlier that Trump \u201cwill only make a deal that is good for America and satisfies his red lines. Iran can never possess a nuclear weapon.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tTrump on Friday said Iran \u201cmust agree that they will never have a Nuclear Weapon or Bomb. The Hormuz Strait must be immediately open, no tolls, for unrestricted shipping traffic, in both directions\u201d and that the Iranian enriched uranium \u201cbe unearthed\u201d and \u201cDESTROYED.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tMeanwhile, Iranian sources have dismissed Trump\u2019s comments, describing them as a mix of \u201ctruth and falsehood\u201d and an attempt to present a \u201cmanufactured victory,\u201d according to Iran\u2019s Fars News Agency.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe sources denied Trump\u2019s assertion that Iran is dismantling or destroying its nuclear materials, saying the claim had no basis in the draft framework.<\/p>\n
