European stocks look set to fall on Monday as investors assess the latest violations of an increasingly fragile ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, and a potential acquisition bid for Britain’s EasyJet<\/a>. <\/p>\n

London’s FTSE 100<\/a> looks set to open 0.3% lower, according to IG data, while France’s Cac 40<\/a> is slated to open 0.25% lower and Germany’s Dax<\/a> is seen opening broadly flat.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It comes after Israel ordered troops to push deeper into Lebanon on Sunday, and the U.S. and Iran traded strikes overnight.<\/p>\n

Oil prices rose over 2%<\/a> Monday following the escalations, as foreign ministers in the U.K. and Germany joined France in condemnation of Israel’s renewed aggression into Lebanon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Israel’s military escalation in Lebanon has killed and displaced civilians, destroyed infrastructure, and eroded space for diplomacy,” U.K. foreign secretary Yvette Cooper wrote on X on Sunday, adding “it must end.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that he instructed the IDF to “expand the maneuver” in Lebanon, despite the ceasefire declared in April.<\/p>\n

U.S. President Donald Trump wrote in a Truth Social post<\/a> Monday morning that Iran “really wants to make a deal,” as he lashed out at “Dumocrats, and various seemingly unpatriotic Republicans” for “negatively ‘chirping,’ at levels never seen before.”<\/p>\n

“Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end – It always does!” he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

South Korean stocks continued their tech-fueled rally unabated, bucking mixed performance<\/a> in wider Asia-Pacific stock markets to hit fresh highs overnight.<\/p>\n

South Korea’s Kospi jumped 1.31% as shares in Samsung Electronics rose more than 3% to hit an all-time high.<\/p>\n

In corporate news, budget carrier EasyJet<\/a> on Monday responded to speculation of a looming takeover offer from U.S. investment firm Castlelake, saying it had not received any such approach but would consider any proposal should one be made. <\/p>\n

There are no major earnings announcements scheduled in Europe on Monday. Key data releases include PMI manufacturing figures for the U.K., U.S., Germany and the European Union.<\/p>\n
