Ammar al-Hakim,
\nhead of the al-Hikma Movement, reaffirmed on Wednesday his support for
\nconsolidating weapons authority in state hands, describing the policy as a
\nconstitutional and legal obligation that admits no reversal.<\/p>\n

Unlike several
\nother members of the Coordination Framework, the al-Hakim Movement does not
\noperate or sponsor an armed faction.<\/p>\n

The Coordination
\nFramework, the umbrella grouping of Iraq’s main Shiite political forces, agreed
\nMonday to authorize<\/a> Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces
\nAli al-Zaidi to take all measures necessary to safeguard the country’s supreme
\nnational interests, announcing its backing for the state weapons monopoly
\nproject, and calling for severing the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) from
\nall political, partisan, and social affiliations.<\/p>\n

Regarding
\nfilling the nine portfolios in al-Zadi\u2019s government, al-Hakim said that the
\nIraqi political parties are currently conducting intensive consultations to
\nfill the remaining cabinet seats, with an emergency parliamentary session under
\nconsideration as a mechanism to finalize the vote.<\/p>\n
