The proposed committee will define<br \/>\nmechanisms to implement procedures linked to separating the factions from the<br \/>\nPopular Mobilization Forces (PMF) structure and limiting weapons to state<br \/>\nauthority in line with the constitution and Iraqi law.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Zaidi also welcomed the \u201cresponsible positions\u201d<br \/>\ntaken by Asaib Ahl Al-Haq leader Qais Al-Khazali and Kataib Imam Ali<br \/>\nSecretary-General Shibl Al-Zaidi, noting Iraq has entered a new phase marked by<br \/>\nimproved security conditions and a shift in priorities toward reconstruction,<br \/>\ndevelopment, and strengthening state institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier today, a source <a href=\"https:\/\/shafaq.com\/en\/Iraq\/Iraq-to-integrate-35K-faction-fighters-into-state-forces\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">told<\/a> Shafaq News that around<br \/>\n35,000 members of Iraqi armed factions would be integrated into state security<br \/>\nand military institutions in exchange for surrendering their weapons,<br \/>\ndescribing the plan as a major step with the potential to reshape the country\u2019s<br \/>\narmed landscape.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative builds on earlier integration steps,<br \/>\nincluding the incorporation of about 15,000 members of Saraya Al-Salam, the<br \/>\narmed wing of Iraq\u2019s Patriotic Shiite Movement (PSM-Sadrist), led by Muqtada Al-Sadr,<br \/>\nwho previously ordered the dissolution of those forces, leaving roughly 20,000<br \/>\npositions under the current framework.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Ashab Al-Kahf, one of Iraq\u2019s prominent<br \/>\nclandestine armed groups, rejected political calls for factions to surrender<br \/>\nweapons, dismissing references to the supreme Shia religious authority in<br \/>\nsupport of disarmament as unfounded.
