Iran has announced that it is suspending communications with the United States unless Israel halts its expanding military operations in Lebanon, according to reports from Iran\u2019s Tasnim News Agency.<\/p>\n
The move marks a further escalation in regional tensions, with Iran linking any continuation of indirect diplomatic exchanges to developments on the ground in Lebanon. According to Tasnim, Iran\u2019s negotiating team has halted \u201ctalks and exchange of texts through a mediator,\u201d citing what it described as ongoing Israeli actions in Lebanon and the collapse of ceasefire conditions.<\/p>\n
The report called for an end to what it described as \u201caggressive and brutal army operations\u201d in both Gaza and Lebanon, as well as Israel\u2019s complete withdrawal from areas of southern Lebanon.<\/p>\n
There was no immediate confirmation from senior Iranian officials that diplomatic communications, which have largely been relayed through intermediaries including Pakistan, had been formally suspended.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump said he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and, through intermediaries, with Hezbollah representatives. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he had received commitments aimed at ending the latest round of hostilities, which have further strained an already fragile ceasefire.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on 2 June that the Trump administration has not offered Iran sanctions relief<\/a> in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, reiterating that any easing of sanctions would be contingent on Tehran abandoning its nuclear programme.<\/p>\n
