According to the BBC, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c5yx135yg53o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">one person was killed and dozens injured<\/a> in an Iranian drone strike on Kuwait\u2019s international airport earlier this week, with the U.S. retaliating with what it called \u201cself-defense\u201d strikes on Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Iran has repeatedly targeted Kuwait and Bahrain, where U.S. bases are located.<\/p>\n<p>With talks between Iran and the U.S. stalling, navigation in the Strait of Hormuz remains sharply reduced, causing a lasting spike in oil prices.<\/p>\n<p>But even as hostilities continue between the two countries, Washington has granted visas to Iran\u2019s World Cup football team, ahead of the first match in Los Angeles this month.<\/p>\n<p>In another sign of continued regional instability, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2026\/jun\/05\/israel-strikes-southern-lebanon-evacuations-nine-villages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Israel carried out strikes in southern Lebanon<\/a> after the militant group Hezbollah rejected a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The exchange of fire on Friday came days after renewed strikes between the U.S. and Iran.
