{"id":148214,"date":"2026-06-06T16:27:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-06T16:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/148214\/"},"modified":"2026-06-06T16:27:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-06T16:27:09","slug":"us-raises-threat-level-for-israeli-espionage-to-highest-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/148214\/","title":{"rendered":"US raises threat level for Israeli espionage to highest ever"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/american-politics\/article-898462\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Pentagon<\/a> has raised its estimates of Israeli <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/crime-in-israel\/article-896201\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">espionage<\/a> activity against the United States to the highest level in history, according to a Saturday report by NBC News citing two US officials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The report claimed that the Pentagon has raised its counterintelligence threat assessment of Israel to the highest possible, with the main reason being tensions between Israeli and American officials over how to proceed in the war with Iran and its proxy terror groups.<\/p>\n<p>According to the officials cited by NBC, an internal message issued by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/international\/article-898170\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pentagon<\/a>\u2019s Defense Intelligence Agency reportedly raised the level for Israel to \u201ccritical.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The main concern in the Pentagon seems to be that Israeli agents might attempt to surveil top US officials in order to obtain information on the Trump administration&#8217;s decisions over the conflict in the Middle East, NBC reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The DIA assessment included a seven-page brief on the threat level and even featured charts, according to the NBC sources.<\/p>\n<p>The Jerusalem Post could not verify the NBC report on the Pentagon&#8217;s espionage threat assessment.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/israeli-embassy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Israeli Embassy of Washington<\/a> said in a statement that the information of espionage was &#8220;completely false,&#8221; with a spokesperson adding that \u201cIsrael does not gather intelligence on American entities, let alone US government officials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cIsrael intelligence collection efforts are aimed at its enemies, not its allies.
