The US Embassy in Baghdad issued a security alert on
\nWednesday, urging all American citizens present in Iraq to depart the country
\nimmediately in light of recent regional developments.<\/p>\n
The embassy emphasized that Iraq remains under a Level 4
\ntravel advisory \u2014its highest designation\u2014 which carries the directive: do not
\ntravel to Iraq for any reason. For those already in the country, the embassy’s
\nguidance was: leave now.<\/p>\n
US War Secretary Pete Hegseth said that the United States
\nwould launch new strikes on Iran, declaring that US Central Command would be
\n“busy tonight” after President Donald Trump vowed to hit Tehran
\n“hard” unless it agreed to a deal with Washington.<\/p>\n
Trump also convened his national security team to discuss
\nthe next phase of the US response. According to two US sources cited by Axios,
\none option under consideration is a military operation that would be \u201cbig in
\nscale but short in duration,\u201d aimed at increasing pressure on Tehran \u201cto change
\nits position in the negotiations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Air defense systems were activated in Fars and western
\nTehran, according to Mehr News Agency, which reported no explosions at that
\nlocation. <\/p>\n
Israel’s Channel 12 reported that the Israeli military
\nraised its alert level in preparation for a possible resumption of hostilities
