London, 11th\u00a0June 2026\u00a0\u2013\u00a0ICJP has issued a letter to the Foreign Secretary raising concerns over Israel\u2019s advancing E1 project and illegal Israeli settlements.\u00a0Israel continues to demonstrate a complete disregard for the international laws and norms that the UK has said it is committed to, and the UK is in grave danger of abdicating its responsibilities if it fails to act on expanding illegal Israeli settlements and the egregious E1 project.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The E1 settlement project, which tenders are now live for, and the enlargement of Ma\u2019ale\u00a0Adumim\u00a0will permanently sever the West Bank into two disconnected enclaves, entrenching annexation and foreclosing any\u00a0viable\u00a0path to a just political solution to Palestinian sovereignty and regional peace.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
These projects would deliberately reshape the territory\u2019s geography and demographics in clear violation of international law, deepening\u00a0instability\u00a0and undermining Palestinians\u2019 right to self-determination.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While the UK government\u2019s\u00a0previous\u00a0condemnation of E1 is encouraging, condemnations without consequences are\u00a0futile and will do nothing to stop irreversible changes on the ground. The advancement of E1\u00a0construction requires an urgent action\u00a0from the UK government\u00a0who must align itself with its own position of Israeli settlements being in\u00a0\u2018flagrant violation<\/a>\u2019\u00a0to international law\u00a0and to ensure full compliance with the International Court of Justice\u2019s July 2024 Advisory Opinion.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00d3rlaith Roe, ICJP\u2019s Public Affairs and Communications Officer, said:\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThere is absolutely no time to waste in\u00a0stopping Israel\u2019s E1 settlement plan.
