Iran expressed doubts about the statement by US President Donald Trump about signing a peace agreement with Washington as early as this Sunday. According to Trump, the deal with Iran is scheduled to be signed tomorrow, and traffic through the Strait of Hormuz will also be resumed.<\/p>\n
The Iranian side effectively rebutted the White House\u2019s statement. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in social media posts, rejected the possibility of signing the document on Sunday and criticized the \u201cunusual persistence\u201d of the US president regarding this exact date.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe memorandum of understanding is not yet ready for signing, and Trump\u2019s announcement of the agreement was made despite the Iranian negotiators indicating that the document remains unagreed. The spokesman for Iran\u2019s Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Bagai, also expressed doubts about the timeline. He said that sealing a deal within the next 24 hours is unlikely, as the parties are still discussing a number of unresolved issues.<\/p>\n
However, both sides are eager to move forward: if the memorandum is signed, Washington and Tehran could begin a new 60-day phase of negotiations on implementing the future agreement.<\/p>\n
