Russia considers the Iraqi state a key partner, but
\nforeign countries are attempting to hinder ties between the two nations, the
\nRussian Ambassador to Iraq stated on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a ceremony hosted by the Russian Embassy
\nto mark the 81st anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, Elbrus\u00a0Kutrashev
\nnoted that Iraq continues to use Russian military equipment and highlighted
\nMoscow\u2019s support during the fight against ISIS.<\/p>\n

He also pointed to the presence of Russian companies
\nin the country\u2019s energy<\/a> sector, describing them as a longstanding contributor
\nto Iraq\u2019s oil industry.<\/p>\n

In February 2025, Iraq and Russia signed<\/a> a maritime
\ntransport agreement and three memorandums of understanding following the 10th
\nsession of the Iraqi-Russian Joint Governmental Committee. The documents
