Lebanon<\/a> is an integral part of the agreement to end the war with the United States, Iran\u2019s foreign ministry spokesperson said on Monday, adding that the draft memorandum mentions Lebanon thrice, calling for an end to the war on all fronts and for respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity.<\/p>\n

Esmaeil Baghaei said diplomatic visits to regional countries are on Tehran’s agenda before the signing of the agreement due in Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegarding the manner and mechanism of signing the memorandum of understanding<\/a>, a final decision will be made today and tomorrow, and its results will be officially announced,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed to Iran’s Tasnim News on Monday that the government intends to sign the agreement.<\/p>\n

“This was achieved through the actions and work done by the governors [of Iran],” Pezeshkain told Tasnim. “Everyone helped, and while the enemy thought that the country would fall apart during the war…the situation was well managed, and this did not happen.”<\/p>\n

The US and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding to settle a nearly four-month war, senior US officials said on Monday, adding that a signing ceremony would take place on Friday and shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz would gradually ramp up.<\/p>\n

Later on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi<\/a> said that an Iranian delegation will likely meet with US officials in Switzerland on Friday.<\/p>\n

Also on Monday, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf<\/a> said in an X\/Twitter post that the US had “failed” in its military efforts against the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe faced an existential threat,” wrote Ghalibaf. “They planned to kill this nation, destroy this country, and subjugate it. Iran has already taken a big step towards *final victory*. This is what they wanted to do – but they failed.
