{"id":172083,"date":"2026-06-22T13:42:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T13:42:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/172083\/"},"modified":"2026-06-22T13:42:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T13:42:15","slug":"ron-dermer-seven-more-english-speaking-israelis-honored-for-contributions-to-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/172083\/","title":{"rendered":"Ron Dermer, seven more English-speaking Israelis honored for contributions to state"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ron Dermer, the longtime confidant of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who left his post as strategic affairs minister last year, was named on Monday as the recipient of a Special Recognition Award by Nefesh b\u2019Nefesh, an organization that facilitates immigration to Israel.<\/p>\n<p>The Bonei Zion Prize is given annually to immigrants from English-speaking countries who have made significant contributions to the state.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to a special recognition and a lifetime achievement award, the prize is awarded for special contributions in the nonprofit, science, education, culture, global impact, and young leadership realms.<\/p>\n<p>The US-born Dermer was Israel\u2019s ambassador to the US from 2013 to 2021 and was a key negotiator of the Abraham Accords, which saw the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Morocco normalize relations with Israel in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>He served as strategic affairs minister during most of the war in Gaza, leading negotiations to return the hostages held by terror groups in the Strip as well as talks over the buffer zone with Syria. (AP\/Alex Brandon)<\/p>\n<p>There were seven other recipients of the award, reflecting contributions to various areas of Israeli society.<\/p>\n<p>The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Professor Marta Weinstock-Rosin, a neuropharmacologist who was the lead developer for what would eventually become the Novartis Exelon Patch, the first and only FDA-approved skin patch for treatment of Alzheimer\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n<p>Weinstock-Rosin, who is Orthodox, was born in Vienna and fled with her family to Britain in 1939, narrowly escaping the Nazis. She came to Israel with her family in 1969. She has also won the Israel Prize \u2014 the country\u2019s most prestigious award \u2014 and been honored as one of the torch-lighters at the state Independence Day ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/static-cdn.toi-media.com\/www\/uploads\/2014\/03\/f120220ns05.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-898872\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/f120220ns05-640x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n\t\tMarta Weinstock-Rosin (Photo credit: Nati Shohat\/Flash90)<\/p>\n<p>Naomi Stuchiner, who leads the Beit Issie Shapiro organization for people with disabilities, won the award in the Community &amp; Non-Profit category.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Philip Klipstein, the senior principal scientist in research and development for SemiConductor Devices Ltd., won the category for Science and Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Rabbanit Chana Henkin, founder of the Nishmat center for women\u2019s Jewish learning, won in the field of Education.<\/p>\n<p>Ami Baran, who heads the Israel Athletics Association, won in the field of Culture, Arts, and Sports.<\/p>\n<p>Danielle Abraham, director of Volcani International Partnerships and ReGrow Israel, won in the field of Global Impact.<\/p>\n<p>Barak Swartz, who founded GRIT for Good, won in the field of Young Leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/static-cdn.toi-media.com\/www\/uploads\/2025\/09\/IMG_20250820_065149.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3632343\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_20250820_065149-640x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n\t\tNew immigrants arrive in Israel after a Nefesh B\u2019Nefesh charter flight, August 20, 2025.
