(WVLT) &#8211; The KC-135 refueling aircraft that crashed in Iraq on Thursday was not from the 134th Air Refueling Wing, based out of East Tennessee at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, officials confirmed to WVLT News. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centcom.mil\/MEDIA\/PRESS-RELEASES\/Press-Release-View\/Article\/4432850\/loss-of-us-kc-135-over-iraq\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.centcom.mil\/MEDIA\/PRESS-RELEASES\/Press-Release-View\/Article\/4432850\/loss-of-us-kc-135-over-iraq\/\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. Central Command<\/a>, which oversees the Middle East, said the crash followed an unspecified incident involving two aircraft in \u201cfriendly airspace\u201d over western Iraq, and that the other plane landed safely.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"link | text-reset d-block h-100 w-100\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wvlt.tv\/page\/wvlt-news-and-weather-apps\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_self\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"wvlt\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/EAFJZDKWSJFMFGBA5C5FOEW7NM.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">All six crew members aboard the plane died in the crash, the U.S. military said Friday. About 140 U.S. service members have been injured, including eight severely, the Pentagon said earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The KC-135 Stratotanker is a U.S. Air Force aircraft used to refuel other planes in midair, allowing them to travel longer distances and maintain operations longer without landing.
