href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/israel-and-lebanon-have-signed-a-framework-agreement-us-secretary-of-state-rubio-says\/a-77729374\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">signed<\/a> a framework agreement on Friday over the ongoing conflict in southern Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary \u200cof \u2060State \u2060Marco \u200bRubio announced \u200bthe agreement, saying that it \u201cbegins to put in place a framework for lasting peace and security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lebanon&#8217;s ambassador to Washington, Nada Hamadeh Moawad, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/news\/lebanon-israel-sign-framework-agreement-end-war\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">described<\/a> the agreement as \u201ca first step on the road to restoring Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity, securing a permanent and final cessation of hostilities, enabling our people to go back to their land, and allowing all Lebanese to live in peace, security and prosperity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under the reported agreement, Israeli forces will continue to occupy what they call a \u201csecurity zone\u201d in southern Lebanon, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/news\/lebanon-israel-sign-framework-agreement-end-war\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">with<\/a> Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tying has said that it will continue to fight until Israeli forces are expelled from Lebanon and warned Friday that the agreement, which seeks to involve Lebanese government forces in the \u201cdisarmament\u201d of Hezbollah, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/politics\/articles\/israel-lebanon-hail-washington-deal-195153294.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">could<\/a> create conditions for \u201ccivil war.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An Israeli official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/liveblog_entry\/israeli-official-idf-withdrawal-will-only-be-from-2-areas-beyond-original-borders-of-south-lebanon-buffer-zone\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">explained<\/a> to The Times of Israel \u201chow minor the withdrawal will be\u201d while the Israeli outlet noted that \u201cit is unlikely\u2026 that such a limited withdrawal will satisfy Iran.\u201d The first article of the interim peace agreement to end the Iran War calls for the \u201cimmediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon\u201d and \u201censuring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Netanyahu<a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeasteye.net\/news\/netanyahu-and-katz-say-israel-remain-lebanon-syria-and-gaza-without-time-limit\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> said<\/a> that Israel would occupy southern Lebanon indefinitely, stating that \u201cwe dominate southern Lebanon, from the summit of the Beaufort, and we will remain as long as required,\u201d adding that \u201cwe do not intend
