The National Council of Resistance of Iran<\/a> held it session on Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27, 2026, with the participation of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi<\/a>, the NCRI President-elect for the transitional period of transferring sovereignty to the people of Iran. A number of representatives of Iranian communities in various countries attended the first day of the session as observers.<\/p>\n

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Rajavi congratulated the Council on the 45th anniversary of its founding and said: The 57-year dictatorship of Reza Shah and his son continued through three coups, foreign intervention, suppression of freedoms, and injustice, until it was overthrown by the Iranian people\u2019s anti-monarchic revolution. Khomeini and Khamenei, too, seized power by hijacking the leadership of the 1979 revolution, monopolizing power, and resorting to repression. But despite 48 years of executions, massacres, and warmongering, this medieval regime is today crumbling in confrontation with the people and the Iranian Resistance, and under the weight of its major defeats.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi emphasized: The declaration of a Provisional Government, backed by 45 years of experience and the slogan of Peace and Freedom, means that the people of Iran have attained the capacity and strength to transfer power democratically and peacefully, after the regime\u2019s overthrow, to their true elected representatives.<\/p>\n

The NCRI President-elect noted: As we have repeatedly declared before, we welcome the cessation of war, the end of the suffering of the Iranian people, and any understanding, agreement, or peace accord. We stress that any international agreement to end the war must include the halt of executions of political prisoners<\/a> and the cessation of the killing of protesters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi added: This regime has no way out of its deadlock\u2014neither from its domestic, political, and economic crises, nor from the dilemma of swallowing the poison chalice of a ceasefire or continuing a deadly foreign war. The consequences of Khamenei\u2019s death are becoming more evident with each passing day, and the power struggle and internal crisis within the regime are intensifying. This is taking place while poverty, inflation, high prices, and unemployment have made social discontent more explosive than ever. Under such circumstances, the ruling theocracy is closer than ever to being overthrown by the people and the Iranian Resistance.<\/p>\n

Council members noted that the two-day Free Iran World Summit<\/a> and the outdoor demonstration constituted a major political and international test, once again showing how the NCRI, over 45 years of perseverance and through the most turbulent periods of Iran\u2019s history, has played a decisive role and stood firm against every form of conspiracy.<\/p>\n

They stressed that neither war nor appeasement can contain the Iranian regime\u2019s fundamentalist policies. Experience has shown that appeasement ultimately leads to devastating war, and that any foreign military intervention, as well as any attempt to impose an alternative from abroad, leads nowhere. Winning freedom and struggling to be liberated from religious tyranny is the right and duty of the people of Iran, and of freedom-loving women and men, as well as the vanguard and rebellious forces.<\/p>\n

Council members added that the campaign and propaganda surrounding the Shah\u2019s son is a security project which, in practice, has done nothing but serve the regime and obstruct the uprising and resistance of the Iranian people. This fascist clique, by organizing criminal gangs and bringing them onto the scene under the emblem of SAVAK<\/a>, has revealed its sinister intentions.<\/p>\n

The session reviewed the economic and social situation inside the captive homeland and the living conditions of the people, particularly workers, laborers, retirees, teachers, nurses, and those on fixed incomes. It concluded that although the regime is trying to control accumulated grievances and the revolutionary crisis by intensifying repression, escalating executions<\/a>, and creating an atmosphere of fear and terror, it cannot escape the explosion of the people\u2019s anger. The time for the most decisive battle in the main confrontation between the people and the organized Resistance, on the one hand, and the bloodthirsty and shattered velayat-e faqih regime, on the other, is drawing ever closer.<\/p>\n
