ABIR SULTAN\/EPA\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>He said the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/27\/world-news\/hezbollah-threatens-to-blow-up-lebanon-israel-peace-framework-as-protests-grip-beirut\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Israel-Lebanon framework agreement<\/a> signed on Friday was a \u201cslap in the face\u201d to the Iranian axis and warned it \u201cwon\u2019t necessarily go unchallenged\u201d by Tehran and its proxies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very proud of what we have achieved thanks to your brave action and also the decisions we have made,\u201d Netanyahu continued. \u201cOur insistence is that we will not leave Southern Lebanon until the threat is eliminated. As long as <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/15\/world-news\/syria-lebanon-fed-up-with-hezbollah-more-favorable-to-israel-polls\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hezbollah<\/a> is armed and present here, posing a threat to us, we will remain here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the security zone in southern Lebanon with Defense Minister Israel Katz and Deputy Chief of the General Staff Maj. Gen. Tamir Yadai. Israeli PM\/X<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu told troops to \u201cnot wait, act\u201d when confronting terrorist threats in the security zone. \u201cThe most important thing for you to know is that our directive\u2014from me, the defense minister, the chief of staff and the deputy chief of staff\u2014is to protect yourselves first,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an ironclad directive,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu said the Jewish state would maintain control of the buffer zones in Lebanon, Syria and the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/26\/opinion\/israels-hostage-agony-finally-ends-but-not-its-gaza-mission\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gaza Strip<\/a>, adding that it would \u201cno longer allow an army of terrorists to have a foothold on our border.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He noted that Hezbollah had been \u201cthe most important link in the Iranian axis,\u201d with an arsenal that totaled 150,000 missiles and rockets before the war.
