{"id":191930,"date":"2026-07-06T03:23:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T03:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/191930\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T03:23:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T03:23:07","slug":"navy-ends-search-for-missing-crew-member-after-arabian-sea-helicopter-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/191930\/","title":{"rendered":"Navy Ends Search for Missing Crew Member After Arabian Sea Helicopter Crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"css-140ip4z e1me5xab0\">The Navy on Sunday suspended the search for a crew member who has been missing since a <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.navair.navy.mil\/product\/MH-60S-Seahawk\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">MH-60 Sea Hawk helicopter<\/a> crashed into the Arabian Sea on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-140ip4z e1me5xab0\">Three other crew members aboard the Navy helicopter <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/07\/01\/us\/navy-helicopter-rescue-missing-person.html\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">were rescued<\/a> soon after the aircraft made an emergency landing in the water on July 1 during a routine patrol. The Navy said last week that the crew members were in stable condition aboard the aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-140ip4z e1me5xab0\">Military officials have said the downing of the helicopter was <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/us5thfleet\/status\/2072356461489881505?s=12\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">not the result of hostile fire<\/a>, and that the cause of the crash was under investigation. In <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/US5thFleet\/status\/2073768949280313416\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">a statement<\/a> on Sunday, the Navy\u2019s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain said Navy and Air Force personnel searched over 14,000 square miles for more than 100 hours before calling off the rescue operation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-140ip4z e1me5xab0\">The death of the sailor, whose identity was being withheld pending the notification of family members, brought to 14 the number of service members who have died in the war against Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-140ip4z e1me5xab0\">Six service members <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/03\/03\/us\/politics\/us-soldiers-killed-iran.html\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">were killed<\/a> on March 1 by an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait\u2019s Shuaiba port. Another service member died on March 8 following an attack by Iran on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-140ip4z e1me5xab0\">Six Air Force personnel <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/03\/12\/world\/middleeast\/us-refueling-plane-crash-iraq.html\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">were killed<\/a> on March 12 when two Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft collided in midair and one of the planes crashed in western Iraq.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-140ip4z e1me5xab0\">More than 400 U.S. service members have been injured in the Iran conflict, according to the military\u2019s Central Command. Capt.
