Welcome back to the City AM liveblog.<\/p>\n

Donald Trump warned the US will \u201cfinish the job\u201d in Iran leaving investors unnerved as he renewed military threats following the funeral of Tehran\u2019s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.<\/p>\n

Brent crude \u2013 the international benchmark for oil \u2013 traded above $72 per barrel on the news, but did remain close to its lowest levels in more than four months. The rising supply has provided a boost to the market in the last week as more vessels were able to make their way through the Strait of Hormuz. <\/p>\n

But stalling talks between the US and Iran threaten to derail the recovery. Negotiations for a lasting peace deal ended without any public sign of headway last week. <\/p>\n

A 60-day ceasefire is currently in place \u2013 set to expire next month \u2013 with the goal of giving some space for diplomacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re either going to make a deal or we\u2019re \u200bgoing to finish the job\u2026 and it won\u2019t be tough to finish the job. I\u2019d rather make a deal, because I don\u2019t want to affect 91 m people,\u201d Donald Trump<\/a> said in the Oval Office.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can \u200bknock down their bridges in one hour, we can knock out their energy supply\u2026. \u200cThey \u2060don\u2019t have any money now. We haven\u2019t given them any money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Secretary of Iran\u2019s Supreme National Security Council Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr branded Trump\u2019s threat \u201cdelusional.\u201d<\/p>\n
