United States President Donald Trump, while speaking to reporters in Ankara at the NATO summit on Wednesday, announced that the ceasefire with Iran is over for him and that he doesn\u2019t want to deal with the Iranians anymore.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s over. I don\u2019t want to deal with them any more, they\u2019re scum. They\u2019re scum, they\u2019re sick people, they\u2019re led by sick people, and they\u2019re vicious, violent people. And if they had a nuclear weapon, they\u2019d use it. As far as I\u2019m concerned, it\u2019s over,” the US president said.<\/p>\n
Calling Iranians \u201cliars, cheats and sick people”, Trump said that the US had attacked \u201cvery dangerous people” from Iran last night. The strikes were carried out after three ships came under attack while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which the US claimed was carried out by the Iranian army.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re liars, they\u2019re cheats, they\u2019re sick people. They\u2019ve hurt their people. They killed 54,000 people \u2014 as of now \u2014 who were protesting. You know, when people say how come they haven\u2019t taken over? They can\u2019t take over because they\u2019re dead,” Trump said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe attacked very powerfully last night, the very dangerous people from Iran. They\u2019re sick, there\u2019s something wrong with them,” the US president added.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrankly, I don\u2019t want to waste my time with them. Now, I\u2019ll let our wonderful negotiators keep talking if they want, but I don\u2019t see it. As far as I\u2019m concerned, it\u2019s just a waste of time dealing with them. They\u2019re liars,” he said.<\/p>\n
Calling Iran \u201cevil”, Trump reiterated that the aim of the conflict has been the denuclearisation of Tehran and that the US is going to \u201cdenuke it”.<\/p>\n

And we\u2019re going to denuke it,” Trump stated.<\/p>\n US Launches \u2018Powerful\u2019 Strikes Against Iran<\/p>\n The remarks of the US president came hours after the US launched \u201cpowerful” military strikes against Iran after three commercial ships were struck while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran carried out retaliatory strikes on the US Navy warships in the Sea of Oman.<\/p>\n US Central Command, in a statement, said the \u201cpowerful” strikes were carried out in response to Iranian attacks on ships passing through the waterway and would \u201cimpose heavy costs for targeting and attacking commercial shipping.”<\/p>\n Also Read: US Hits Iran With \u2018Series Of Powerful Strikes\u2019 After Hormuz Ship Attacks; Tehran Retaliates<\/a><\/p>\n Explosions were reported across multiple locations in southern Iran early Wednesday, with Iranian media saying blasts rocked the country\u2019s key oil export hub on Kharg Island, as well as Qeshm Island and the port cities of Sirik and Bandar Abbas.<\/p>\n A US official told Reuters that the strikes were aimed at degrading Iran\u2019s military capabilities, targeting air defence systems, coastal surveillance infrastructure, surface-to-air missile batteries, anti-ship cruise missiles and drone launch sites.<\/p>\n The US launched strikes on Iran amid the 7-day funeral of Iran\u2019s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Iran launched retaliatory strikes and fired at least two anti-ship cruise missiles and various drones at US Navy warships in the Sea of Oman in response to US strikes, according to Fars news agency.<\/p>\n According to a report published in Axios, US President Donald Trump had approved the Iran strike plan and gave the orders on Tuesday during his visit to Turkey for the NATO Summit.<\/p>\n What Triggered The Ceasefire Fallout?<\/p>\n The US and Iran had reached a fragile ceasefire last month and signed a memorandum of understanding, which had temporarily halted hostilities following months of conflict that began with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran in February.<\/p>\n However, the tensions escalated between the two countries after reports of attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz emerged.<\/p>\n Also Read: US Military Ignored Outdated Intel, Gave Nod For Strikes On Minab School In Iran: Report<\/a><\/p>\n The latest escalation followed reports from the British maritime security agency UKMTO that an \u201cunknown projectile” struck an oil tanker on Tuesday, sparking a fire, while two other commercial vessels were also hit, including one that was reportedly targeted by a drone.<\/p>\n The incidents occurred near the coast of Oman, where Muscat had proposed a temporary shipping corridor along its territorial waters to safeguard maritime traffic.
