That&#8217;s your city, Mayor,\u201d Dershowitz said to Giuliani. \u201cThe same city electing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/american-politics\/article-895010\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Rudy Giuliani<\/a> and Mamdani to the same office. It is absurd. (credit: REUTERS\/David &#8216;Dee&#8217; Delgado)Conversation comes after US Supreme Court ruling against Trump<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The two agreed that \u201cnothing woke them up in 1932,\u201d referring to Jews who continued to back Nazi-figures as the war began.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019d think they&#8217;d learn their lesson,\u201d Dershowitz said, \u201cbut no, they vote for Brad Lander.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Brad Lander, an anti-Israel Jewish-American candidate, is the Mamdani-endorsed nominee for New York&#8217;s 10th congressional district, having defeated incumbent Representative Dan Goldman in last month&#8217;s primary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Dershowitz and Giuliani further discussed a wide range of issues, including birthright citizenship, transgender athletes in sports, and campaign finance limits.<\/p>\n<p>The conversation comes shortly after the US Supreme Court struck down <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/international\/article-900980\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Trump\u2019s Birthright Citizenship<\/a> executive order, which attempted to end \u201cbirthright citizenship,\u201d instead opting to reaffirm \u201cone of the country\u2019s most enduring constitutional principles: that nearly everyone born on US soil is a US citizen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Who are Giuliani, Dershowitz?<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Giuliani, a member of the Republican Party who described himself as the tough-on-crime mayor who reshaped New York and led the city&#8217;s response to 9\/11, has since been permanently disbarred from practicing law for his role in the efforts to overturn the 2020 election on Trump&#8217;s behalf.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Dershowitz&#8217;s own reputation has similarly faced scrutiny in recent years over his professional ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender.<\/p>\n<p>Dershowitz joined Epstein&#8217;s legal team and helped negotiate the 2008 non-prosecution agreement that allowed Epstein to serve a reduced sentence.
